about

“Making a Dying” is a somber, but hopeful closer that asks the listener a simple, but profound question: can we really call it “making a living” if we have to work until we die? And could there perhaps be a different path we could take?

lyrics

Every morning
Day after day
It’s always the same
Never any change

So I am proposing
That we pack up and go
Challenge the status quo
And everything we know

You’re not making a living if you just work until you die
This can’t be how we were meant to spend our lives
Always searching but we never seem to find
That peace of mind

Numbers on pages
Struggling to define
Where to draw the line
How to spend the time

Consume all the knowledge
Of those who went before
Who opened up the door
The ones you can’t ignore

Step outside your comfort zone and you may see
That there is more than just one way to be
A human being on this big chaotic sphere
The answer’s here

So hold on…

Dear Daria is a brightly-colored swirl of power pop, indie rock, alt-rock, and pop punk. Frontwoman Maryjo Mattea says “it's like if Lennon and McCartney grew up in the 90s”. ... more
